CENTRO
PESQUISA: O centro emblematiza a própria cidade do Rio de Janeiro. A identidade do bairro e da cidade se ajustam, não sem tensões, ao longo do século XX, quase em paralelo às mudanças arquitetônicas e urbanísticas. Até o início do século era um lugar distante de pescadores, mas, depois da abertura dos túneis e com a chegada dos primeiros bondes elétricos, se populariza. Em 1923, com a inauguração do Copacabana Palace Hotel se torna o bairro da moderna e sofisticada sociedade carioca. Cresce vertiginosamente entre 1945 e 1960. Hoje ainda é um dos bairros mais reconhecidos da Cidade com seu mundialmente famoso Reveillon, campeonatos de vôlei de praia, shows etc. Na maior parte do bairro predomina o som dos engarrafamentos, mas em alguns lugares somos surpreendidos por sons memoráveis e inesquecíveis. |

RESEARCH: Downtown symbolises the city of Rio de Janeiro. The identity of the neighbourhood and the city are very simliar, there are no tensions, over XX century, almost in parallel with the architecural and urban changes. Until the begining of the century, Copacabana was a far place full of fishermen, but after the opening of the tunnels and with the arriving of the first eletric trains, it became popular, In 1923, when Copacabana Palace Hotel, it became the neighbourhood of the modern and sofisticated society of Rio de Janeiro. It had a vertiginous growth between 1945 and 1960. Today, it is still one of the most recognized neighbourhood of the city with its famous Reveillon party, beach volleyball championships, concerts, etc. In the biggest part of the neighbourhood, traffic sounds perdominate but there are still some places where we got surprised by memorable and unforgattable sounds.
